The History of the Olympic Games

In Room 5 we have been learning to write a report about the history of the Olympic Games. We had to add who, what, when and where in the first paragraph.
 

The History of the Olympic Games

The ancient Olympics started in 776 B.C and went to 393 A.D The original Olympics took place in Athens, Greece and it happened every four years for 1169 years. The ancient games were part of a religious festival and only Greek men were allowed to watch.  

In 1887 a man named Baron Pierre De Coubertin had an idea to remake the Olympic Games. Coubertin was a french man and lived in France.

Image result for olympic mascots swimming 2016The modern Olympics Games happen every four years and top athletes that can be men or women can participate in the events. In the years of 1916, 1940 and 1944 there was no Olympic Games because of the war.
In the ancient games winners got an olive wreath and now day's winners get medals. In the modern Olympics people from all over the world come and watch it, but in the ancient games only the Greeks watched.
